About Côte de Châteaufort
Châteaufort sits where the wooded slopes of the Mérantaise valley meet the cultivated country above. The climb recorded here heads east from the village, gaining its height in less than a kilometre. That compact scale gives the effort a particular immediacy: there is little time to settle before the road has already asked for a lower gear. Around 52 metres of ascent is enough to make a distinct interruption to the rhythm of a ride through this folded corner of the Yvelines.
The setting matters as much as the numbers. Deep valleys and higher farmland lie close together here, so a short rise can mark a noticeable change in the shape of the landscape. The road's bends give that transition a little variety, rather than reducing it to a straight uphill push. Châteaufort is a small climb, but a satisfying piece of local terrain.
